Ted Mannino holds a Master's of Art Education and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from the Pennsylvania State University. His career spans thirty years of K-12 teaching experience, including stints as District Tech Coordinator for Cumberland Valley School District and leading the Technology Professional Development program for a staff of 875 members.
Ted is currently an Adjunct Instructor at PSU's York campus and Wilkes University. He has served as an instructional technology consultant for several Central Pennsylvania businesses, including a Fortune 200 company. His expertise includes concept mapping, software instruction, developing Web-based multimedia for educators, Train the Trainer seminars, and authoring courseware content for World Campus.
Ted completed his Ph.D with a dissertation exploring technology resistance, researching school principals' perceptions of technology in the classroom. A longtime art educator and mentor to Dave and Kel, Ted is also a working musician who provides the guitar accompaniment to UC podcasts.
Kel Smith is a conceptual technologist specializing in compliant solutions for education, e-commerce and rich media applications. A ten-year industry veteran, he provides interface design and usability consultation for clients throughout the Philadelphia area.
Kel has a strong interest in the topic of web accessibility, lecturing for such organizations as The University of the Arts, the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership, the Philadelphia Standards Organization and Ursinus College. In June of 2007 he published an article titled The Missing Link, which offers practical advice for businesses seeking to comply with accessibility guidelines.
Kel is the author of Indirect Manipulation, a weblog exploring concepts related to digital design, human factors usability and social technology. A member of the Usability Professionals' Association and Boxes & Arrows, he was also an artistic contributor to the Computational Aesthetics symposium "Graphics, Visualization and Imaging in Scientific Applications." He takes the odd photo now and then.
Dave Solon is a Technology Integration Specialist at the Conestoga Valley School District, Lancaster, PA, and an adjunct faculty member of the Instructional Design and Technology department at Philadelphia University. Dave did his undergraduate work in the Rochester Institute of Technology's Biomedical Photographic Communications program and went on to earn his Masters in Instructional Technology at Philadelphia University.
Previous to his move to the educational realm, Dave worked as a corporate trainer helping teach desktop publishing, graphics, and web applications to printing and publishing clients; as second-level tech support at Dupont's R&D Experimental Station; and in the digital imaging labs of Philadelphia's two premier custom photographic service bureaus.
Dave enjoys helping teachers and students integrate technology into their classrooms to further engage learners in technology-rich environments.
